Ramkishan the rickshaw driver is a film about social imprisonment and poverty. Being the oldest son of a poor farming family from a Rajasthani village, Ramkishan is sent to the city of Jaipur to earn some cash money. There he survives among streetdwellers and drinking collegues.
Ramkishan is a tragical figure banging his head on the confines of the Indian caste system. His wish is to escape his fate and 'to go outside of India'. Will he ever become independent?
Recorded in Jaipur and Thala, Rajasthan, India (2002).
